How to shutdown, restart, lock, hibernate or put computer to sleep mode using command prompt

As you may or may not know it is possible to shutdown, restart, lock, hibernate or put computer to sleep mode using command prompt (tested on Windows XP/Vista/7)

  • Shutdown Computer:
    Shutdown.exe -s -t 00
    
  • Restart Computer:
    Shutdown.exe -r -t 00
    
  • Lock Workstation:
    Rundll32.exe User32.dll,LockWorkStation
    
  • Hibernate Computer:
    rundll32.exe PowrProf.dll,SetSuspendState
    
  • Put Computer to Sleep mode:
    rundll32.exe PowrProf.dll,SetSuspendState 0,1,0
