How to install Windows 8.1 without Microsoft account (create local account instead)

During the installation of Windows 8.1 (sometimes called Windows Blue) you're asked to “Sign in to your Microsoft account” or to create a new one. In previous versions you could easily bypass this process and choose to create local computer account instead.

Well, don't worry, you can still do this but Microsoft (for some reason) made this a bit more complicated and hidden.

To do so, simply follow the steps below:

  1. On "Sign in to your Microsoft account” page -> click "Ceate a new account

  2. Then click "Sign in without a Microsoft account".

  3. On the next screen you just enter Username/Password for a new local account and it will be created straight after you press the Finish button.

Thanks, just what I was looking for. I hate this “connect your account” stuff. My PC is MY PC. Not just another node to the cloud.

Awesome, thank you!
My first thought was “what the f*** Microsoft?”
I’m glad I found your guide.
